During the festive period, we caught up with keyboard wizard Dave for a rare interview. Topics covered include the Doors, Hammond organs and what’s in his famous bag.
More convention details
Following the announcement of next year’s convention weekend earlier this month, we can now provide some further details.
The event is taking place in Central London on the Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of November 2011. This convention will be non-residential and an early finish (around 8.30pm) on the Sunday is planned to enable attendees to get trains/flights home etc. Hopefully this early information will allow everyone to plan accomodation, travel and holidays in plenty of time for the event. As mentioned previously, each day will feature an acoustic set and a special full band set, as well as other activities and support acts.
More details, including ticket prices and information, will be released in the new year.
We have been asked by the management to check if
anyone can loan an original print of the famous Nice arrest photo (pictured right) for use in an upcoming project. It needs to be an original press picture, rather than a scan of the Nice In Nice sleeve etc, due to the image quality required. Alternatively, if anyone can provide details of the photographer in question, that would also be of use.
Plans are afoot for a weekend convention-style event for the tail end of next year.
It will be the first event of its type since the Pontin’s convention back in 2001. Although the details have not yet been finalised, this special event will take place in mid November in a classy venue in South East England.
With a capacity of around 600-700, the weekend’s events are rumoured to include various band-related activities as well as acoustic sets and special guests.
Each night will climax in a full band gig featuring special unique sets.
All in all, it sounds like a really exciting weekend could be in prospect. Watch this space.
