Full details of UK tour March 2012March 2012 UK tour

Details have now been confirmed for the Spring 2012 UK tour. The 18 date schedule kicks off at Leeds O2 Academy on the 1st of March and finishes up at the Manchester Academy on the 24th.

A pair of Scottish dates see a return to the Alhambra in Dunfermline, which the band last visited in 2010, as well as Glasgow O2 Academy. For the London date, the band return to their early home-from-home, the Roundhouse, which was also scene of the triumphant 30th anniversary Rattus Revisited gig in November 2007.

Gigs are also booked at Lincoln Engine Shed and Leamington Spa Assembly, both of which have played host to the band in recent years. The tour visits the birthplace of The Stranglers, Guildford, for their first non-festival gig in the city since 1999. They will appear at the G-Live venue, which is a new development on the site of the old Civic Hall that played host to them many times over the years.

Special guests on the tour are celtic folk-rockers The Popes and singer/songwriter Mike Marlin also returns for another value-for-money three band bill.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, the 23rd, at 10am and are available through www.gigsandtours.com plus other online ticket agencies. Please remember that you can also purchase tickets for any/all O2 gigs at any O2 venues direct without any booking fees. See you on tour...

We hope to have more details on his ideas and choices for the latest shoot soon and are eager to see the results. David's unique style can be viewed on his website here.

Martin Rushent (1948-2011)Martin Rushent RIP

We have just received the sad news that another early band collaborator, Martin Rushent, passed away yesterday aged 63. He started as a studio engineer in the early 70s and then moved on to production, mostly working at TW studios in Fulham, London. He worked closely with The Stranglers for a couple of years following their signing to UA in December '76.

Martin produced the band's first three albums Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black and White as well as the string of singles. They parted ways during the recording of The Raven and he went on to set up his own studio Genetic. He worked with many other bands, notably the Buzzcocks, Generation X and the Human League. RIP
